You saw we wrote about the 70s being back this year and with it comes fringe detailing. It's a pretty versatile trend to wear, anyone can do it, and as such we have set out a couple of different 'looks' you can create using just a little fringe.
Boho It Top
Now obviously, the fringing trend is associated with the decade of hippies and flower power so it wouldn't be right to not start this post with the now firmly entrenched bohemian chic look - otherwise known simply as boho!
If you look around, pretty much everything from floral shorts and top co-ord’s, to sun dresses to t-shirts, to summer gillets and kimonos, everything has got fringing on! This makes it easier to instantly add that little bit of boho to your wardrobe this Spring.
The main thing to keep in mind here is colour and bold ethnic inspired print! The 70s were all about experimentation with colour and pattern and this is something which has been carried through into the now.
One option is to find a really vibrant dress or top (see here) and team it with a fringed kimono or gillet. Or add a boho headscarf and keep it all coordinated by using psychedelic, floral or ethnic print in earthy tones.
Yeah we love our leathers ..... they go with things in your wardrobe that have we have gone off, that have shrunk in the wash, faded ... but put on a jacket/skirt/anything leather and it all looks good! Miraculous. Combining fringing with leather or lots of black immediately adds that little something different in a rocker chick kind of way!
To achieve this look simply team fringed garments with your trusted leathers, biker boots and some chunky jewellery (some of the pieces on the TMS website like the fang necklace would look great). Check out Lindsey Lohan below:
Or do an all black look like Kate plus some smouldering eyes or dark lippy and you’re well on your way to creating that edgy rocker chic look whether it's day or night! If you can get your hands on a fringed leather jacket then that’s even better because it’ll really fuse that fringing + rock and roll chic look together.
Now we know at times we all have events which we have/need to attend either for work or family which require us to be a little more covered up and perhaps a little less daring with our style choices, but this doesn’t mean that you cant incorporate fringe .... just keep it on your feet - yes, ladies, shoes!
Although we don't do shoes (yet) we love the fringed sandals around right now. They come in a variety of heel heights so whether you are short or tall, you’ll be able to find a fringed sandal which covers your needs this season - especially for those sexy summer nights. The ones below are seriously sexy!
One of the best ways to make this trend all out girly is by combining the floral patterns that are everywhere right now with the fringing trend. You will have seen we have fully bought into florals - after all it is Spring!
So get yourself out there and team those floral print dresses with some fringing - have a bed hair day and sport wavy beach hair and you’ll create a look which is effortlessly girly. And don't think you can't do both together - yes you can - just remember to properly colour combine (read last weeks post!) - it's a bit like food combining - it makes things more digestible! Here is Selena Gomez sporting a floral maxi dress plus a fringe bag - cool and girly. We have a few maxi dresses/floral co-ords that would work with this look here and here.
